Mt Aspiring National Park

Established in 1964 as New Zealand's tenth National Park, covering 3,555 km² at the southern end of the Southern Alps and extends from the Haast River to the Hollyford and Routeburn area at the head of Lake Wakatipu. Mount Aspiring/Tititea (3033m) is the mountain which gives the park its name. Other prominent peaks within the park include Mount Pollux (2542 m) and Mount Brewster (2519 m).

Roaring Billy Waterfall

Across the river, so-named because it used to keep the workers in the nearby camp awake.

Mt McFarlane, 8,278 feet
